This is my first Koontz. I'm only a few chapters in, but I'm wondering if I should throw in the towel. I'm feeling the same combination of annoyance and nausea that I had watching Odd Thomas. I think the problem may be that I'm a cat person, and this book stinks of dog. Does that make sense to any Koontz fans out there who aren't dog people? It's like this book was written by Mr. Peanut Butter wearing his glasses.

Mike Marsbergen Haven't read this one, but basically all his books since Watchers involve dogs. He's definitely a dog guy, and just once I want him to write a cat with the same affection. You should read Velocity if you want Koontz at his best and with the least amount of dog.
Wise Cat This book isn't supernatural like Odd Thomas, yet terrifying in its own way. I like both dogs and cats, and like in real life the dog in the story is more perceptive about humans than humans themselves. The dog doesn't appear a LOT in this book or you could skip those paragraphs. :-) If you do you won't miss much storyline.
James Luke No. This is nothing like Odd Thomas. Odd Thomas books were definitely weird and not scary. This book is a gem and it's terrifying.
