Is it necessary to read the other Devil Wears Prada books before reading this one?

Karen Nelson Not at all. It will stand alone.
Jennifer This is a hard question. Yes and no. This book definitely stands on its own. However, I think that you should at least be familiar with the Devil Wears Prada (whether you read the book years ago or watched the movie). I think that you could read this book as a standalone. It has been years since I read the other books in the series. But I did read recaps recently to remind myself of what happened in the Devil Wears Prada. The characters from that series are referenced in When Life Gives You Lululemons. And some even appear in the book. So it's better if you know who Miranda is and what Emily's life was like working for her.
Lori This can stand alone but reading, in particular, "The Devil Wears Prada" gives you very good insight into Emily and how she operates--plus it gives all the dishy background on Miranda. Personally, I would definitely advocate for that read along with this one. As for the second book in the series...you can do without it.
Linda NO - as I read it and didn't realize it was related to Devil Wears Prada until the novel started talking about Amanda Priestly and I said "What?". Was reading on Kindle checked out of my local library. Fun, Funny and entertaining even for an elder.
Mandy Phillips No, it can be a stand alone. But, after reading it, I bet you want to know more about Miranda and go back to The Devil Wears Prada!
Charmayne Campbell God no! - Just read it - there's no pre- characters so you'll be not missing anything - enjoy
Understateddiva Some of the same characters but the plot is totally self-contained. Please add Devil Wears Prada to your list too, though, just because it's good!
Kathryn in FL Karen, No it is not necessary to read "The Devil Wears Prada" before reading this installment, to do so, will make you disappointed that this book isn't more interesting (it appears that I am an outlier in my view of this story).
Jess No way. Definitely stands on its own.
Marcia Stands alone. I read the first one only and I really liked this one!
