Goodreads asked D.L. Fletcher:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

D.L. Fletcher What I love about being a writer is the freedom of thought. The freedom in creating a world outside of this one. I can get so lost in a story and the characters. One of my favorite parts of writing is seeing the direction the characters take seemingly all on their own. What I mean is even in being the writer there is an element of surprise - I have an idea - I start to write the idea and oddly enough I wind up on a similar path but rarely exactly where I was striving to go. The story twists and turns in ways I hadn't planned. Thus the characters taking a direction of their own. Mostly I love that the story ends where I want it to. So many times I am reading, so enthralled in the story - I want more, so much more and it ends. But not when I write it. When I write it, it is over when I say it is over. I love that!
