Do you believe the Giver should have been made into a full-fledged TV show or even a miniseries like Stephen King's "It", and could it have worked better than the film in fleshing the story and characters out?

I would have loved to see the four books combined and interwoven into a 12-part series. But darn it, I don't rule the word.

My 7th grade daughter loved this book and the ones that followed. I too enjoyed "the Giver" and it made me reflect on the pull that dystopian books have on our young readers right now. Is it seeing idealism turned on its head? The blurred lines between good and bad? Thoughts?
