Based on the note from Laura, I think it's clear that Anna pushed her mother from the balcony. Was it anger over the murder of her father and the lies she was told? Maybe partly. But I also think it might have had something to do with the money she had inherited that she wouldn't have any longer if her mother was alive.
I don't think Anna has much to worry about though - who will believe Laura?(less)
