I would recommend Birds Without Wings as it is a moving historical saga with many intertwined stories. I would also recommend Warmth of Other Suns. Even though it is nonfiction it reads like a novel and looks at many of the same themes of migration and oppressed minorities who suffer greatly but still make a life, find joy in life in the midst of heartbreak.
