One of my favourite books is Memoirs Of A Geisha by Arthur Golden, and I felt in some way this had a similar feel so maybe try that :)
A different storyline but set in Japan in a similar time and portrays how desperate families were.

A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khalid Hosseini . Although this one takes place in Afghanistan, it reminds me of Pachinko. Both have women suffering due to the masculine culture.

Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi is very good. There There is OK. Both of these books depict families and individuals through many generations. Both stories describe loosing ones home and the effects of living as an immigrant or minority.

I had read the trilogy by Jane Smiley - Some Luck, Early Warning and Golden Age - and saw similar themes. It is set in America but it has a similar story line.

I also really enjoyed Do Not Say We Have Nothing by Madeleine Thien and Green Island by Shawna Yang Ryan! They're both East Asian family sagas, which are set in two and three countries respectively, just like Pachinko, but they each bring something different to the table despite having similar themes.

I loved this book as well. I would recommend Birds Without Wings as it is a moving historical saga with many intertwined stories. I would also recommend Warmth of Other Suns. Even though it is nonfiction it reads like a novel and looks at many of the same themes of migration and oppressed minorities who suffer greatly but still make a life, find joy in life in the midst of heartbreak.
