I have watched the series on Netflix. Do I need to do the first book before book two? Does the series pretty much cover the story?

That or it wont start at the same place at least.

That said, the concepts of the Takeshi Kovacs books and universe could allow for different stories it seems. So the series probably doesnt have to follow the books directly... Though I did prefer the flow of the first book more to the first season, even though the first season was still entertaining.(less)
