We never find out about Mia's reason for being the person she was. When and how was she psychologically damaged. I thought this would be revealed. I loved the book very much. Is there any thoughts about Mia's character?

She has broken ties with her parents, but it seems those ties were never strong to begin with because they didn’t understand or support her (similar to how Elena didn’t understand or support Izzy).
