I had a student say that the world of Jonas wasn't that bad compared to what is going on in places such as Syria, Africa, and Missouri for example. I can state the obvious, but what would you say?

Lois Lowry I would say that there are both good and bad to be found in every culture, every ideology. It is the task of caring humans to try to make the good outweigh the bad.
