How is Ignac from Slovenia at 1987? Slovenia was part of Yugoslavia. How a man in USA talk about Chech Republik, same year, 1987, it was Chechoslovakia. Nobody judged smoking in 1950. and 1960. More reading before writing.

It is Czechia actually (and Czechoslovakia before) The Czech Republic now. CHECHnya is in Russia, this mistake happens a lot, but please don't do it, the difference is huge.
Sorry for being a pain, I am just a Czech who spotted this.

To answer the question, I can realistically see a Slovenian who would address himself as Slovenian in 1987. Yugoslavia was all different nations with different languages and cultures, that were just connected into one Yugoslavia by a political force. Not one common language. Sort of a federation of South Slavic countries. (less)
