Mark asked Brenda Hiatt:

Having read a few books about the "Camino de Santiago". I'd like to ask about the loo situation? as I'd love to do the walk but worry about the amenities!

Brenda Hiatt Hi, Mark! There are a lot of different ways you can approach your own Camino experience, from carrying everything on your back and making NO plans ahead of time (which my daughter has done, at least for a couple of weeks) to going with a packaged tour. My first time, it was closer to the latter, where we had a guide and a van for our heavier stuff, so we just walked with daypacks. The guide knew where the better places were to stop for breaks (including bathrooms) and our lodgings along the way were all pre-booked. Really, though, as long as you're on one of the more established paths, you're likely to find enough little bars/cafes along the way that you should be fine. (Though in some areas, finding a bathroom with both a toilet seat AND paper was considered a real stroke of luck! LOL!)
