A Goodreads user asked William L. Myers Jr.:

I am intrigued as to why you use the present tense so much in your books. I have now read the first two and love both of them. Kudos too because following up on 'A Criminal Defense' cannot have been easy. There is a question in there :) ?

William L. Myers Jr. Hi Stephen-- The reason I use present tense is that I learned as a trial attorney that when you are telling a story in present tense, it draws people in more than past tense. There is a sense that the reader/listener is present as the action is unfolding.

Glad you enjoyed the books! --Bill Myers
