Ellen Polsky
Ellen Polsky asked William L. Myers Jr.:

I'm from Philadelphia, and I remember that train crash. For a minute after reading your book, I thought that we hadn't gotten the real story from the news. Did you need permission to change the story from what (I think) really happened?

William L. Myers Jr. Thanks for the question Ellen. And--no. The story in the novel is a purely fictional account. It actually draws from different train crashes that occurred around the country.
