I want to read this together with my (almost) 10-year old son who is an avid reader an dis looking to discover more authors. He has read all the Harry Potter books already, etc. What do you all think? Age appropriate? I plan to read first to be sure.

Jessamyn I read this book to my 11, 9 and 6 year old boys and the they all loved it. My oldest told his teacher about it and both my 11 year old and 9 year old are giving copies to there teachers as a gift at the end of the year. It was fun and imaginative and I look forward to reading this series with them as each book is published.
Nikki Livingstone I am currently reading this with my 10yr old son who has read all the Harry Potter books. Initially he was reluctant to start it..its new and its about a girl. So I am reading it to him as special time together. We are both loving it and there is a battle when I say "no more tonight". We have a couple of chapters to go and I think the book is amazing. Its unique, witty, well written and totally age appropriate.
Cecilie Jøhnk Agewise, I would say it is very Harry Potterish. Enjoyable for the aloud-reading grown-up, too.
Mary My 10 yo son read it by himself and loved it. He is waiting for the next one in the series!
Beth Mitchell Absolutely! I read it aloud with my almost 9-year-old son (also a big Harry Potter fan) and he loved it.
Steve Yes. Retired intermediate grade teacher thinks pace and cleverness will entrance him. Do talk with him about the mixed blessing of Hawthorne.
Frances Sayer Totally age appropriate! I know an 8 year old who has read it. It's mediocre compared to Harry Potter... the only thing is it might be a little long.
Bethany Yep! Definitely age appropriate, ver fun, and it has lots of magic like a Harry Potter!
Kirstin My eight year old son just read this - it took him a long time but the story is so wonderful it kept him engaged. I wanted him to see how great books can be, and am so glad this one paid off.
Sabrina Z. Oh, yes. I definitely think it's age appropriate. It is a little intense at parts, but if he could do Harry Potter, he should be fine. It has an incredibly good plot and is very well written. I highly recommend it!
ElishaHarrison It is age appropriate I personally think it isn't as good as Harry Potter ( I'm 11 to and have been reading for some time I think it is boring )
Alex Crozier It’s definitely age appropriate! Harry Potter handles much darker themes. Nevermoor is quite a light read and would be fun to read together!
Ella If he has read the Harry Potter series this is totally appropriate. The second book is really the only one that might have a little , more , to it. If that makes sense.
