The original article is about why the writer no longer talks to white people about race. The book is a kind of change of mind, it is an explanation of things you need to understand if you really want to talk about race and why it is a difficult subject to discuss if a white person is not willing to really open up and listen, instead of feeling attacked immediately. It is so much more than the article.
