The Giver was my introduction into dystopias as a young reader. And I fell in love with the genre. What is the central concept that you hope today's young readers with grasp from The Giver and other dystopic novels?

My daughter introduced me to "The Giver" when she was in 7th grade as it was her required reading at the time. She is now 26 and I can honestly say reading that book brought to me the love of reading all over again. I am now a librarian, and I want to take this oppertunity to thank you.
