Hello from 2022.
I assume Lord Haldane is Mr. Worthy – an assistant of Derek Craven.
When I read Dreaming Of You (story of Derek Craven and Sara), there is a scene at the end of the book as follows: “Sara standing inconspicuousy at the edge of the doorway, watched the tightly knit crowd around the hazard table. All of them concentrated on the roll of ivory dice as if life or death depended on it. Derek's slim, dark form was visible in their midst. He was laughing quietly at some quip that had been made to ease the tension” and Mr. Worthy then came to Sara, both of them together watched Craven downstairs. It is the same position, the same view when Lord Haldane and Evie both "glanced back at the main hazard table, where Sebastian had just made a quip to ease the crowd". And the way Sara pride of Derek at this time is similar to how Evie fell when watching Sebastian at his role, natural as he had born to it.
Finally, when Lord Haldane said “I never thought to see another of his kind again”, it only reminds me of Derek.
However, unlike of the majority question about who Lord Haldane is, I have been questioning about why Vincent changes his felling when his first step in the Jenner Club as described “Evie gave an impatient tug at his arm. However, Sebastian did not budge. In fact, he barely seemed to notice her” and “not for long, Sebastian murmured, and his gaze returned almost compulsively to the main floor. “I’m going to over every inch of this place. I’m going to know all its secrets””. I have a big curiosity, why Vincent becomes so strange, or is there any book explain that? I would like to read and fine the answer.
