Cintia asked Kelley Armstrong:

I'm an aspiring writer, but I'm dealing with two things: I get discouraged every single day because 96% of manuscripts are rejected, and I haven't had an idea for years, literally. There's too many people wanting to be writers, and knowing there's so much competition just kills me a little every day. When I get motivated, immediatly something appears about the industry that kills it. Any tips on how to deal with this?

Kelley Armstrong The question is whether your goal is to tell stories for the love of it or be a published writer. If your goal is the former, as mine was (and still is), then publication is just a really awesome bonus :) If someone told you right now that you'd never get traditionally published, would you quit? If so...well, it's not an easy career to get in or to stay in or to make a living at, so I'd strongly suggest publication shouldn't be your reason for writing. Even if you aren't published, you can still share your stories.
