The drive to connect with other people, communicate what I'm thinking about, and hopefully engage in conversation with readers. I know a novel can seem like a pretty one-sided conversation, but for me it's ideally the beginning of the discussion, not the end of it. Life is complex, messy, and confusing, but books offer a powerful way to step back and, through the veil of fiction, make sense of our world. Also, I just really enjoy entertaining people—that's the fun part, for me.

Loving your book! Its been an escape for me after the kids are asleep and I have time for myself. Although, since teaching started, it's been sitting on my nightstand but can't wait to get back to reading it. So what's your favorite poem or poet? Lastly, what's your routine before you write? I always feel everyone has a routine of sort to get their creativity flowing.

I was wondering if you have any story ideas such as characters, items, or places that you've thrown out or given up on that I can use for one of my stories? The story that I'm thinking of is about an island where all story bits end up if they are thrown out or given up on. I've asked other authors so I can get a variety and some truth to the story.
