Kyle I have to admit it bothered me quite a bit. Though I liked the satiric, screwball style, and form of the novel, the persistent objectification of women and attempted comedy of sexual assault I found disturbing. If Catch-22 were taught in high school or middle school I think it would send a really wrong message to young women (and young men).
Jenna Moquin I actually couldn't finish the book because of the misogyny.
Filip Tomaszewski I'm just reading the book and though I appreciate the concept the way he writes about women is really obnoxious. And I was curious whether anyone else was also disturbed by it and to my delight I found this thread.
Tom Myddelten It bothered me a lot. I trudged through it because we picked it for our book club.
Jan-Joost Bouwman It did. But I decided that it more or less portrays the treatment of women in war accurately, when we all lose our humanity.
Carley Faucheux Since page one. I just got to Nurse Duckett and had to google why there was so much misogyny in the book - as in, was it intentional social commentary about the objectification of women or the author’s own sexism and misogyny? It’s the latter.

Maryam Zia I am reading it currently and I am unable to move past the 13th chapter! The portrayal of women as objects to have sex with is disgusting. Especially revolting is how the soldiers (even the good ones) exploit women caught in wars and then casually talk about how they were so ready to trade their bodies. Yes they were somehow bearing being raped so that u don't kill them jerks!
