What was your inspiration to make your books how they are? They are all about murder or stealing. did something happen as a kid or do you just like books like that and decided to write a book like that?

April Henry Mostly it's that I like intense books. And part of it is that when I was in college, someone broke into my apartment. I got out without even seeing him, but it did make me think about how if things had gone differently I could have died. Almost all of my books are inspired by true events. I might read a news story and think, "What would I do if I were that person who was in trouble?"
