I have seen your character Lord Umber criticized for being bipolar. Was that your original intention for the character? Either way, I loved him; he was such an interesting and refreshing person to read about!

Hello there. I have heard Lord Umber's emotional swings discussed as part of his character, but not criticized. I certainly did intend that to be his personality, and a challenge that he has to deal with, as do many people in real life. I don't want to spoil anything, but if you read all the way through the trilogy there is an interesting revelation about that quality of his near the end. Glad to hear that you enjoyed meeting him - he is absolutely a favorite creation for me.

Hello, I just read the last book of Umber and is has left me raw :( It is a great ending, I would have preferred an incredulously happy one though where they lived happily ever after and where Hap returned as a young boy but I suppose that is the price you have to pay for saving the world. I wanted to ask, will you ever revisit the universe of Umber? It is such a ripe world and you write it so well! :)

This isnt a question as much as we just finished readnig the eye of the warlock and thoroughly enjoyed it, but most specifically because there was nothing inappropriate that we wouldnt want our preteens to read. granted most of society doesnt care about that, and it is so hard to find acceptable books for our children, i want to thank you for making this one and it was not only acceptable, but thoroughly enjoyable?

My father is blind, and an avid reader/listener. We recommend books to one another regularly. I was able to find an audio version of Happenstance Found, which he loved. Neither my father or I have been able to locate an audio version of the final 2Books of Umber - not in the Library for the Blind, local library, or Amazon - even though it appears they were once released on audio. Any chance they will be again?
