I had an advisory role. The most challenging part is fitting everything into 90 minutes so that the audience will understand the backstory, and finding a way to make visual the things that can be described in a book

How different were all the villages throughout the giver quartet? I think about this all the time. Was there ever war between them? How did they all relate so peacefully? Were they all one body that worked together? More specifically, how did one community have the capability to stop the human brain, and another not even able to survive? Thank you so much

"The Giver" is definitely written for kids, but it still manages to hit pretty hard--especially with the "release" of unwanted babies and elderly people. Did you find it hard to keep this toned down enough for your middle-grade audience? What was your approach? Related to that: have you ever received negative feedback from parents/adults who thought it too intense for children?
