The verses usually just come to me. I've been reading the Bible regularly since I was 13--which was quite a lot of years ago! And the verses are honestly "hidden in my heart." But if I feel like I need a verse addressing my characters' situation and no verse is coming to me, I will use BibleGateway.com and do a search for a key word. That helps me find the right verse sometimes.
