Goodreads asked Bruce A. Borders:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Bruce A. Borders It is my opinion that writer's block is nothing more than uncertainty or a lack of direction. To stimulate the creative side of my brain, I do writing exercises. There are many different methods of this but one of my favorites is to write down a word and then write what comes to mind next, and then again. Quite often, more than one word will come to mind. I write them both down and keep branching out. Soon, there'll be a page full of words that seem to make no sense yet are related. Usually, this process will trigger something. It gets my mind thinking in different directions rather than being stuck in whatever rut I was in.
