I am listening to this and am wondering if anyone else has a problem with Vincent's age (14) and somethings that are going on with him (i.e. the neighbor next door)?

Dh Yes. I found the matter-of-fact acceptance of that disgusting and offensive. That was the worst part of the book. Franny's supposed to be obsessed with protecting Vincent and yet she doesn't mind that he's being treated like that? It didn't even work as as a plot point.
Kraig Vincent is precocious, willful, and his parents are distracted. While I found his behavior a bit extreme, I found it believable because I've known kids like that.
Since the Puritans infected this country with their uptight, anti-life attitudes, America has had a hypocrisy problem. The Owens family isn't much for Puritanism OR hypocrisy, and folks who buy into the Puritan ethos may find Vincent's behavior (Or Gillian's, in Practical Magic) to be a little shocking.
Cori And his excessive drinking at his young age! I had a really hard time wrapping my head around that because no one around him seemed to care.
Jackie Copper Yes! Especially in this age of sexual predation NOT being swept under the rug. It's treated as if this child's sexuality is perfectly natural in this setting. Ugh

Rosa Yes! This might sound stupid but I have to put the book down and google the consent age for that time period--it hasn't changed much. I was very shocked and confused; I'm not a mother but I do have siblings that age and I was bummed out by the lack of concern from the aunts and sisters.
