Ruby asked:

Is the main character male of female? I read the book and still don't know.

Rori From a conversation between Sal and Ruby in the book, it seems Sal is genderfluid experiencing 3 gender states: man, woman, and agender. The best pronouns to use for them is "they/them".
Maire Magnus Sal identifies as Genderfluid, which, as it says in the name, is someone who experiences fluidity between male and female (sometimes both at the same time) and therefor, on days they feel they are a woman they go by she/her pronouns (Sal says that they dress how they feel so a dress when a woman pants and t-shirt for man you get the drift) and on days they feel like they are a man they go by he/him pronouns, the same system applies when they feel they are a mix of both they go by they/them pronouns or are open to any pronouns, hope that helped!
Elias Sal is gender-fluid, meaning that it depends when you ask. Sometimes Sal is male and others female.
Cherish I don't think you're supposed to know... the main character just 'feels' what gender they are on a day by day or hourly basis.
