Hello Lois Lowry! I'm Kristina - book blogger & your fan from Russia. I read "The Giver" and I really loved it. Actually your book helped me with my exam. So thank you:) I would love to know why children in "The Giver" don't have parents? And also I wanted to know if you think that "The Giver" is alike "WE" - a novel by Evgeniy Zamyatin? They don't have biological parents, just the organized assigned families, because the concept of family affection and connection has disappeared so it is no longer important.

I've read The Giver several times, both as a teen and now as an adult, and have always imagined the setting to be very simplistic - grey/monochromatic tones, linen clothing, even the food. Is the new films vision with more futuristic imagery what you had in mind when writing the text?
