Jodi I've been struck repeatedly over the last few years by the way the modern world in your books 'rhymes' with things that have come to pass in the real word after you started writing. Did you see the US fascist turn coming or was that just a horrible coincidence?

I'd really love to be able to say, 'Yes, I foresaw all this.' but I didn't. Initially I just wanted to show that Max's world was not quite here and not quite now, so I sat down and thought about three of the most unlikely events ever to occur. A global pandemic, Britain leaving the EU - in fact, the actual break-up of the EU, and America retreating behind walls and closing its borders. I'm stricken with guilt over the whole thing and seriously considering writing about a period of unprecedented world peace. Just to see what happens.

Can you please remind who Smallhope and Pennyroyal are. Which books have the appeared in? Clearly I need to go back and reread so I can remind myself who they are! Hello Jodi, Love both Time Police and COSM. I’ve caught up on Time Police and currently reading book 5 of COSM. I have managed to procure hardcover editions of 1-6 but 7-14 seem to have only been published in paperback. Before I buy the paperbacks I wanted to confirm that hardcovers do not exist after book 6 and if so why? Also, please tell me Max makes it to Thermopylae eventually.
