Read authors I love, usually Harlan Ellison. But most days I get up and sit down at the keyboard and work, because that's what I do. Not every day feels inspired, but I have to write if I want to get those books done.
It usually works because I have a tale I want to tell, but on days when the words just will not come, I go do something else. Forcing it never ends well and I throw out whatever I tried to write anyway. Better to take the break when I need it.
