What a hilarious question.

Maybe there were that many other options given the year and location.
Maybe a more telling question is: why would anyone spend a fortune on baby clothing? Babies grow like weeds. What isn't outgrown in mere weeks is often quickly ruined by the way infants leak from every orifice without warning. Besides, babies aren't status conscious. They aren't checking out each other's labels in the playpens. Waste and snobbery are taught to them by adults who care too much about impressing others. Less spent on status clothes, the more that can go into the college fund. (less)
