I am a fan of your "Giver" series. I taught 9th grade English for many years and "The Giver" was one of the novels that I taught. My students loved it; wonderful discussions came from reading it. Last summer I read the 4 book series. Last weekend I saw the movie. It did not disappoint. I was so glad that the movie followed the book so closely. Thank you for "The Giver." Anne Fischer

Lois, As your "soul" now become someone else's "movie" how do you feel re: attempts to "co-opt" the meaning? I speak of media placing "political" meaning upon it. I ask because the novel is one of the most powerful things I've ever read, yet I can't even explain what it means to me. How can they explain it then? Do attempts to "co-opt" your voice bother you?
