What do you imagine happened that made each community in the series turn out so differently from one another? Each community came from the same ruin, yet Kara's community has almost no technology while Jonas's community was advanced and thriving.

PIcture the capitol of Pakistan, with computers and complex weaponry and phone lines and TVs. Now picture an village in Afghanistan, with no plumbing, no education for women. Though it wold be a long and arduous hike...you could walk from one place to the other. They had evolved differently for very complicated reasons.

Oh, this is exciting! I've been wondering about something: In "The Giver", how difficult was it to convey feelings using words? The descriptions were so accurate, like when you described how the warmth of the sun felt. Did you struggle a lot to make those descriptions just right? Or did they just came out as you wrote?
