it feels profoundly human to me. the main character is so incredibly complex, his inner world feels complete in its transmission. it feels to me like a deep dive into the queer scene of its time, the absurdity of gender. just let it be what it is, and it sings.

If you want to be hit over the head with "exotica" and feel like you have a real in to goings on , its probably great. It does touch on almost every aspect of queer life and tries to make a profound point. If you think it makes a profound point, its a great book. If you think it isn't as profound as it tries to be, its not so great.
