Hello Mrs.Lowry. I loved The Giver and I am happy I can ask you a question about it. I'd like to know if by filling the room with books is the best way to collect memories and if bad memories are equally worth having with the happy ones? Thank you!!

As the book...and the movie...point out, bad (pr sad) memories are part of what makes us human, caring beings.

Lois Lowry:
Thank you for the Giver series! My children read The Giver in 5th grade; now that they are 18 & 21, they still maintain that it is one of the most influential books that they ever read. Personally, I have suggested the series for my own book club as it speaks to all ages. Do you believe that the books (The Giver in particular) are more relevant now than when they were first published? Why or why not?
