Thank you for the Giver series! My children read The Giver in 5th grade; now that they are 18 & 21, they still maintain that it is one of the most influential books that they ever read. Personally, I have suggested the series for my own book club as it speaks to all ages. Do you believe that the books (The Giver in particular) are more relevant now than when they were first published? Why or why not?

Lois Lowry It may actually be more relevant now because in recent years...since 9/11...we have had to sacrfiice certain freedoms for the sake of security. We must be vigilant about those trade-offs.

I read all four of your books from The Giver series and loved them all. However it was difficult to see the connection between the books after having read the first two of the series. Why did you choose to wait until Book 3 (The Messenger) to tie the books together?
