Nicholas Evelson
Nicholas Evelson asked Lois Lowry:

I was wondering if you had any advice on crafting the powerful moments, primarily the "oh @!$&" moments that make the novel memorable and great. How do you edit those moments to make them as powerful as they can be? Are there any any editing tips you can give aspiring authors such as things to trim or concentrate on when putting the final touches on the big reveals or plot twists in a book?

Lois Lowry Read what you have written aloud. You will hear things you may not have seen.

Don't rush.

Don't view your own prose as sacrosanct.
