Lily Jones
Lily Jones asked Lois Lowry:

Did you ever consider making Jonas and/or the Giver female?

Lois Lowry No, though they could have been. Book characters come to me intuitively, fully formed, and these two came to me as male

Dave Milbrandt
Dave Milbrandt asked Lois Lowry:

What were some of the challenges you faced in writing the Giver series over a two-decade period?

A Goodreads user
A Goodreads user asked Lois Lowry:

As an author whose work has become so integrated into wider American culture, I have wondered: what are your thoughts on how your fans have interpreted The Giver? Is there anything that you wish they had taken from the story that they seem to have missed? Is there anything that surprises or annoys you?

Anne Fischer
Anne Fischer asked Lois Lowry:

I am a fan of your "Giver" series. I taught 9th grade English for many years and "The Giver" was one of the novels that I taught. My students loved it; wonderful discussions came from reading it. Last summer I read the 4 book series. Last weekend I saw the movie. It did not disappoint. I was so glad that the movie followed the book so closely. Thank you for "The Giver." Anne Fischer
