Do you have to read the books in order? I saw tons of them at Goodwill the other day and I wanted to get them but I was afraid to since they were in different spots of the series..

I accidentally read F before E, but was not too thrown by the mention of things that happened in E. Or the non-mention (What happened with Jonas after events of D? How did her apartment get... well, spoilers) It can't hurt too much, I suppose. Except I am trying to read them in order, and still early in the series.

I've read the first 4 in order, but you really don't need to. I do suggest starting with "A" if you can, since it introduces the main character and most of the recurring supporting characters.

Unlike some series, I think of Stuart Woods "Barrington" series, it doesn't feel necessary to read Sue Grafton's "Kinsey" in order. There is some character and plot development but not an inordinate amount from one to the next. I've read a few out of order, just as enjoyable. The most important point is that Grafton wrote them in order, and that's how she intended them for character and plot. In your case, I would acquire the Goodwill ones, and visit a bookstore for the missing early ones, and start with "A!"
