Ben Whitney asked:

Did the book leave any other reader questioning if Hill House was haunted? I know there were sounds and apparitions but I can't help feel that I, as the reader, have been duped. I see Ms. Jackson smiling in her grave right now.

Ava Teague I think the house is haunted, but not in the traditional sense. That's where the horror lies; you can't be sure what is going on or why. I can also see Ms. Jackson smiling in her grave (and it's an unsettling image), and I only wish she got more credit. I think this book is one of the most sensitive and thought provoking things I've ever read, not to mention that it's some of the most precise and masterful writing out there.
Bek Musicå I had the same question... I couldn't decide if the hauntings were real or if Eleanor was unstable or was she possessed?
Logan Kedzie I guess my question is what indicia would you want to prove a house as haunted?

To quote Roger Ebert's review of The Blair Witch Project, "the noise in the dark is almost always scarier than what makes the noise in the dark."
Becky Mayes I definitely questioned if Hill House was Haunted at all. Truthfully at the end, I came away with more questions, than I did answers. Was the house haunted, if not then who was writing on the walls and banging on the doors. Was Eleanor really there or was she the one that was haunting the house? Who stole the gold rimmed dinner set? Was Theo bi-polar? So many questions.

Huw It's telling that this question needs to be asked, and I don't blame you for asking. Unfortunately Jackson falls back on the always irritating unreliable narrator trope, therefore it's impossible to know for sure whether the house was haunted or not.
