Goodreads asked Robin M. King:

How do you get inspired to write?

Robin M. King I like to take things that I've always wanted to do and put it into a story. The idea of Alexandra came because of my love of spies. I also loved reading the children's series, Cam Jansen. Cam has a photographic memory. I decided to take that a step further. What if someone could see everything they did like it was a recording in their head? I found out this was similar to an eidetic memory so I decided to use that as one of Alexandra's qualities in Remembrandt.

For my next series (not yet published!) I got the idea of having a main character who could sense what others feel. I brainstormed different mythological creatures and their abilities. I decided I wanted to use the idea of a unicorn because they have the ability to heal as well. I did some research and found some stories in mythology where there was a chimerical creature called a Sin-you that was half-unicorn and half-lion. There wasn't much by way of information on this chimera so I decided that I needed to write its story. Thus, emPathetic (Sin-you #1) was born.
