The editing process depends on how thick your skin is and how much you trust your editor. If you trust your editor, then you know her priority is to make your manuscript better than you can make it on your own.
And if you have thick enough skin, then you will take her direction and work hard to improve your manuscript. It's not always easy, but there's nothing so hard that a gallon of ice cream can't fix it!
