Hi Sebastien, Really loved Traitor's Blades as it made me dash back to the library to get Knight's Shadow and pursue the series! I am really intrigued as to what influenced you to create the Greatcoats and the Dashini Assassins?
Sebastien de Castell
Thanks for the kind words Mark.
To your question: the Greatcoats were initially inspired by the Justices Itinerant of 12th Century England who were sent by the King on circuits of towns and villages to hear cases. The Dashini came about because I wanted the Greatcoats – this order of expertly trained duelling magistrates – to have a kind of opposite order who they feared and who represented the antithesis of their own values.

Sebastien de Castell:
I know you have plans for another series featuring different characters with maybe some walk on parts for our beloved Falcio, Kest, and Brasti. Being a fan of those characters, that is like offering a child a piece of candy but only allowing one lick and then taking it away. Like Michael J Sullivan has done with his Riyria characters, maybe, you could give us some standalone books featuring our favorite Greatcoats?

Sebastien de Castell:
I found Knight's Shadow in a store and fell in love instantly. Chapter 1 had me laughing the whole way through. Sold on the spot! I've resisted the urge to read further until I've ordered Traitor's Blade first. I'm a reader with no mercy - on a good day I'll judge a book by its first paragraph, and on other days it'll be the first sentence. So, well done! How do you do it? You sir have just got yourself a new fan!

Hi Sebastien! I hope you're well - just two quick quarantine-induced questions (seeing as I've already reread Traitor's Blade in English and in French!) First, which of your books is coming next, and when? I can't wait but different sites are telling me different things! Second, do you happen to know exactly where to find The Red Lily, because I've not been able to find it on your site. All the best from Scotland :)
