I just finished your Royally series. I'm curious if you modeled Wessco from any specific country?

Hi Annette,
I didn't pattern Wessco after one specific country, but chose details from a few different countries to create Wessco.
The formation of the country came from Scottish and English history (the Scottish Wars for Independence) with some creative license. Wessco is made up of the southern region of Scotland and northern England - the Wessconian accent is a blend of Scottish/northern English.
The government is based on aspects of Jordan, Monaco and the UK.
Wessco is a constitutional and hereditary monarchy. The order of succession would be enshrined in the country's constitution (which is difficult to change/ratify).
The king/queen is head of the executive branch and signs, executes, and vetoes all laws. But a royal veto may be overridden by a two-thirds vote of both houses of parliament.
Parliament in Wessco consists of the House of Lords (these seats are hereditary - passed down through the noble families) and the House of Commons (these are elected seats).
This is why Queen Lenora was concerned about the feelings of the people toward the royal family, as well as anti-monarch leaning members of parliament in Royally Screwed. If public sentiment turned against the monarchy, parliament could pass laws/amendments to the constitution limiting the royal family's power/role in government. With enough votes, the Queen wouldn't be able to veto those laws.
Sorry if this was way TMI, lol! Due to pacing, not all of these details made it into the royally series, but it was fun researching different countries to create a realistic Wessco.
And I enjoyed sharing that info with you here - thanks for your question!

I also suggest you change your photo. From chin on hand to warrior book goddess standing with a computer under one arm. Your opposite leg on a stack of all your amazing books and writhing fans reaching up for your next release in the other hand while you stare off into the distance thinking of the next series. How 'bout it?

Hi Emma! I love Drew and Kate's story - bordering obsessed! Drew's hilarious and I can't understand how Kate could be patient with him. And Tied, oh wow! Fell in love with James! Speaking of James, are you open to writing a book featuring James as a 17-year old high school senior who goes through the trials and tribulations of one with the help of his father? Hahaha just a thought.

I just want to say thank you so much for writing such wonderful stories. I just finished listening to Getting Schooled and laugh and cried. It made my drive home from work nice and quick. Garrett was such a great character and I look forward to the rest of the series. Do you have any time frame when Dean's story will be realease?
