Roxane Gay Meeting Beyoncé is the end goal of my career. I am already a tenured professor, published writer, etc.

Congratulations on all your success! When you start writing, or have a concept or an idea for a piece, do you map out how it's going to go before you begin or do you just start and see where you end up?
