Goodreads asked Maggie Shayne:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Maggie Shayne My favorite answer to this question came from Nora Roberts, who said, "You put your ass in the chair." I don't believe in writer's block. There's always that first hurdle to get over, like a speed bump when you're starting the day and you decide to...oh, go answer questions on Goodreads or something, for example, instead of writing. ;) But you force yourself into the chair, put your fingers on the keys, lie to yourself by saying "Just ten sentences. That's all. Just ten sentences." Or even "Just one sentence." Once you do that, the damn breaks and the words start to flow. It's not really writer's block at all. It's "put your fingers on the keyboard block." Cause once they're there, the music begins.
