My father's books are very different from mine, but watching him write every day as I was growing up certainly influenced me. I learned from him that writing comes naturally to a lucky few, but, even then, it takes commitment to work as an author. My mother worked as a librarian and took me to the public library every Saturday for books. Between the two of them, they made sure I was a reader, and you can't be a writer without being a reader first. Thanks so much for reaching out after reading the books with Mary. I'm listening to "The Better Sister" and I'm intrigued about the detective's last name, Guidry. I'm from South Louisiana "Cajun Country" and Guidry is one of the most popular names down here......and hardly recognizable and even harder to pronounce once you leave Louisiana. How'd you choose that name???? :)
