Goodreads asked Sharon Harrigan:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Sharon Harrigan Short term, if I'm having trouble coming up with ideas, I take my dog for a walk. Walking, in general, gets my brain flowing. So does taking showers. I also try doing a three minute silent mediation and then write without stopping, for 15 minutes. It's amazing what 15 minutes can generate if you only tell yourself you have to write for 15 minutes! This is an exercise I do with students at the beginning of every class.

Long term, if I'm stuck in the middle of a long project, then I take a break from it and work on something short. Or vice versa.
