What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Sharon Harrigan Read. Read as much as you can. Read first for pleasure and then read with a pencil, slowing down and underlining everything that moves and excites you. Then read those lines again and try to figure out WHY those things moved and excited you so much. Also, take classes, both so you can learn how to read critically and so you can build a community of writers who can be your early readers. It takes a lot of people to make a book. Don't be too shy to ask for help.
